iron, painted

“It’s better to burn out, than to fade away.” Neil Young

I like to paint.
And I like to craft with my own hands.
In particular with steel.
Its strength allows for light and airy structures.
I like burning out weird shapes with the torch:
These fiery showers of sparks!
The mesmerizing radiation of molten iron!
After cutting, welding and bit of painting
eventually nature takes back control:
Rain, wind and sun let the image rust
till it's weathered and decayed
like a remembrance of mankind long gone
and the crude artwork it cared for.
I don't like to fade away,
I keep burning out.
